The personalities of 30 National Defense Education Act Guidance Institute counselors were studied. A composite self actualization score for each counselor was derived from the evaluations of three staff members who knew him most immediately. Findings are offered as evidence that the POI can measure self actualization among normal adults. (Author)

The results of this study provided additional support for the fruitfulness of conceptualizing four separate rational forms of novelty experiencing, as well as additional construct validation for each of the four measures.
