A game was used to assess children's judgments about altruistic, cooperative, or competitive payoff. In a second experiment, small groups were asked to construct new words with the option to work alone or to collaborate. The article reviews the recent literature on the personality attributes and self-perceptions of the gifted, and the attitudes and perceptions held about them. Among the conclusions are that the gifted appear to have higher self-esteem than others, and that gifted students are more popular with their peers than others. (Author/DLS)

For a sample of 75 female senior nursing students the Tennessee Self-Concept Scale exhibited statistically significant correlations with the Adjective Check List (ACL) scales of Endurance, Nurturance, and Affiliation. The extent to which the Group Embedded Figures Test (GEFT) measures aspects of personality and cognitive impairment was explored in 81 male alcoholics receiving treatment for alcoholism.
