Questions concerning the relationship between self-rated adjustment and the Bem Sex Role Inventory were examined in two studies. In both, superior adjustment was associated with androgynous v traditional sex typing only among women. Adjustment differences among sex types were accounted for by differences in masculinity. Assessed test bias on the Wechsler Intelligence Test for Children-Revised (WISC-R) and Bender-Gestalt. On the Bender, evidence of bias was infrequent and irregular. On the WISC-R, group differences were most discernible for age, sex, family structure, and race. Consistent patterns of bias were not apparent among comparison groups. (Author)

Correlations between Extended Personal Attributes Questionnaire scales and measures of worry, depression and anger confirmed previous results with unselected students. Socially desirable masculinity was negatively related to worry. Socially undesirable masculinity traits were positively related to depression and anger. (Author/BEF)

The three wishes of group-tested children, individually tested problem children, and individually tested nonproblem children were collected and categorized. Overall, there was considerable similarity in the types of wishes made by children across groups. It was concluded that wishes alone are not a good indicator of psychopathology. (Author)
