Vinaixa, J.; Ferrer, M. – Journal of Chemical Education, 1983
Although a large number of experiments on aquation kinetics of inert octahedral complexes exist, few exist on the reverse (anation) reaction. Preliminary considerations and laboratory procedures for a kinetic study of the anation reaction are provided. Several pairs of students can complete the experiment in a three-hour period. Silverstein, Robert M.; LaLonde, Robert T. – Journal of Chemical Education, 1980
Designed for the organic chemist involved in interpreting NMR spectra, basic concepts of chemical shift equivalence and magnetic equivalence in NMR spectrometry are discussed. (CS)

Poole, R. T. – American Journal of Physics, 1980
Describes a method, considered appropriate for presentation to undergraduate students in materials science and related courses, for the calculation of cohesive energies of the alkali metals. Uses a description based on the free electron model and gives results to within 0.1 eV of the experimental values. (Author/GS)

Krane, K. S. – American Journal of Physics, 1981
The general problem of mass accretion by a drop falling through a cloud of droplets is considered as an exercise in introductory or intermediate mechanics. The kinematic behavior of the falling drop is deduced for a variety of mechanisms of mass accretion, and some special limiting conditions are discussed. (Author/SK)

Strebel, Donald E. – American Journal of Physics, 1979
The use of biological examples in teaching applications of the analog computer is discussed and several examples from mathematical ecology, enzyme kinetics, and tracer dynamics are described. (Author/GA)

Science, 1979
This article describes the distribution of mass in a hand-held object as a fundamental but unrecognized contributor to the sensation one receives from the object. Experiments producing fractions for human sensitivity are given. (SA)

Trevena, David H. – American Journal of Physics, 1979
Describes a nineteenth century paper by Reynolds on his experiments with the tension that a column of liquid could sustain, and compares Reynolds work with some of the other related work published in French journals at that time. (GA)

Edge, R. D., Ed. – Physics Teacher, 1979
Explains how to demonstrate the fundamentals of one dimensional kinematics such as Newton's third law of motion, and collision between bodies, using simple materials of marbles, strings, sticky tape, drinking straws, and rubber bands. (GA)

Burgardt, Erik D.; Ryan, Hank – Science Teacher, 1996
Presents a unit on chemical reaction kinetics that consists of a predemonstration activity, the demonstration, and a set of postdemonstration activities that help students transfer the concepts to actual chemical reactions. Simulates various aspects of chemical reaction kinetics. (JRH)

Bodfish, James W.; And Others – American Journal on Mental Retardation, 1996
The occurrence of dyskinetic movement disorder and its co-occurrence with stereotypic behavior among adults with mental retardation were studied in 98 adults with mental retardation. Results indicated that stereotypic movement disorder was associated with increased dyskinesia scores and that dyskinesia and stereotypy may be related by common…
