Data from 10,957 students in the High School and Beyond survey were used to explore relationships between stable and changing family configurations and student achievement, attitudes, and behaviors in the last two years of high school. Identified by a study of mathematically precocious youth, 107 academically accelerated gifted students were compared with 107 nonacademically accelerated gifted students. At age 23-25 years, the 2 subject groups exhibited few significant differences, and no evidence of harmful effects of academic acceleration were found. (SLD)

Unofficial rates of delinquency (RDs) were studied in Japan for a representative population sample of 1,121 high school students in the Osaka prefecture, mostly from private schools. RD correlations and interpretations were compared with those of similar U.S. studies. Reasons self-reported delinquency in Japan was much lower are discussed. (SLD)
