This study investigated urban adolescents to determine their knowledge of child development and health and to examine the relationship of this knowledge to discipline approaches to common problems of child rearing. Results indicate that urban adolescents have inadequate knowledge of child health and development. Recommendations are offered. (MT)

Investigated the developmental aspects of the Koppitz scoring system with 652 children who took the Bender Motor Gestalt Test. Scores were fitted to various developmental curves by computer. Results indicated only 35 percent of the Bender test performance variance was accounted for by age. (JAC)

Explored the relationship between a short form of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised (WISC-R) and McCarthy Screening Test (MST) for a sample of northeastern Ohio children (N=42). Results showed that all the subtests except for Leg Coordination scores correlated significantly with the WISC-R Verbal scale. (LLL)

Tested the effectiveness of the Stanford Binet Intelligence Test and the Bayley Scales of Infant Development in assessing the development of 30 preschool children. Describes a delinquency prevention program where young boys were taken to jail following minor law offenses. With a counselor, they talked to police and prisoners about what it was like to be in jail.
