We stand by our original conclusion that for a developmental analysis, upright orientation should not be inferred from judged upside down orientation with a binary vertical method. Investigated adolescent males' recognition of evaluative words spoken near threshold by male and female voices. Closed-style subjects (theoretically characterized by social withdrawal and perceptual blocking) recognized fewer female-spoken (relative to male-spoken) words; this finding is consistent with adaptive-style theory.
