Pines, Maya – 1976
Research in human genetics is now expanding rapidly, leading to increasingly precise ways of preventing or treating some of the 2,000 or more inherited disorders that afflict human beings. At the same time, it has produced a wealth of new ideas and techniques which are laying the groundwork for new medical science for the 21st century. Recent work…

Jensen, Arthur R. – American Psychologist, 1978
It is argued that numerical peculiarities in Burt's reports of kinship correlations are more reasonably attributable to carelessness than to fraud. No analysis shows that Burt's results are biased so as to favor his theory, and they are in close agreement with numerous independent studies. (Author/AM)

Howard-Peebles, Patricia N.; And Others – American Journal of Mental Deficiency, 1977
The importance of cytogentic studies, including banding techniques, in moderately retarded individuals without significant physical anomalies was pointed out by the analysis of a moderately retarded 10 year old, non-Down's female. (BB)

Wertz, Dorothy C.; And Others – Work and Occupations: An International Sociological Journal, 1988
Satisfaction with professional-client encounters was ascertained from 173 genetic counselors. Wang, Vivian Ota – 1997
More and more people are touched daily by genetic information. Even with the technological accomplishments generated by the Human Genome Initiative, genetic information will continue to produce uncertainty. Danielli, James F. – Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, 1972
Research in manipulation of genetic inheritance opens new vistas. Biologically-styled industrial synthesis is better in many respects than chemical engineering practices now in use. An approach for improving hereditary characters in living organisms without considering social implications is unwise. (PS)

Scarr-Salapatek, Sandra – Science, 1971
Environmental influences were important determiners of aptitude and ability as measured by the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills in a twin study using black and white students. There were insufficient data to determine the relative contribution of environmental and genetic variance between races. (AL)
