Hand Test and Rorschach variables significantly differentiated two subgroups of aggressive and nonaggressive alcoholics. The aggressive group was characterized as hostile and impulsive. The predictor variables that emerged have practical value for recognizing the potential acting-out alcoholic. (Author)

Peer reviewedKelley, I.W. – Psychology: A Quarterly Journal of Human Behavior, 1979
Reviews the behavioral evidence of the possible relationship between the movements of the planets and personality variables. Descriptors: Attribution Theory, Influences, Literature Reviews, Performance Factors
Peer reviewedNewman, Arthur J. – Journal of Aesthetic Education, 1980
The author cites personality correlation studies which indicate a marked affinity between aesthetically inclined personality configurations and those which would characterize the morally mature (in Kohlberg's sense). He therefore suggests that learning activities in aesthetic sensitivity may prove fruitful in moral education, in complement to…

Peer reviewedKappes, Bruno M.; Parish, Thomas S. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1979
As evidence that the Personal Attribute Inventory (PAI) is a self-concept scale, the present study required 265 college students to respond to it and to the Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire (16PF). As hypothesized, the PAI was significantly related to the self-concept factor on the 16 PF. (Author/CTM)

Peer reviewedSchut, B.; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1980
Data obtained from extracted short-forms support a hypothesis that a California Personality Inventory short-form that includes all of those items previously demonstrated to constitute an Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory short-form can be an accurate predictor of the full-version CPI. (Author)

Peer reviewedInnes, J. M. – Social Behavior and Personality, 1978
A study of the extent to which people are likely to attribute traits to other people rather more than to themselves produced support for the Jones and Nisbett hypothesis. The level of trait attribution in the present study was higher than that obtained in previous studies. (Author)

Peer reviewedWilson, James L. – Journal of the American Forensic Association, 1979
Describes the use of the 16 Personality Factor Questionnaire to identify personality correlates of competitiveness among debaters, novice debaters, and nondebaters. The study suggests that the differences in competitiveness are attributable to the type of person attracted to debate rather than to traits learned in debate. (JMF)

Peer reviewedRader, Charles M. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1977
In this study, Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) profiles of exposer (n=36), rapist (n=47), and assaulter (n=46) groups were investigated and compared. Peer reviewedCollins, Judith M.; Schmidt, Frank L. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1997
The potential importance of suppressor variables in the personality domain was studied in classifying white-collar criminals with a validation sample of 435 prisoners and a cross-validation sample of 214. E. Roskam's (1985) conjecture that steeper item characteristic curve (ICC) "a" parameters (slopes) (and higher item total correlations in classical test theory) would be found with more concretely worded test items was tested with results from 925 young adults on the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (H.
