Use of these verbs is determined by the adverb used with them: an adverb of place will govern use of "ir," while an adverb of time will govern use of "irse.""Ir" also involves a return trip, while "irse" communicates only a going away. Examines the treatment of sense discrimination in eight Spanish/English English/Spanish bilingual dictionaries and one specialized dictionary. Does this by analyzing 30 words that Torrents des Prats determined have at least nine different sense discriminations from English into Spanish. Larousse was found to be far superior to the others. Discusses the teaching of the semantics and syntax of a particular construction employed to quote questions indirectly in Spanish. Argues that questions in indirect speech are always introduced by "que" in Spanish and are interpreted as questions. Indirect questions not introduced by "que" are normally interpreted as assertions.
