Peer reviewedRosch, Eleanor – Cognitive Psychology, 1975
Two methods are used to test the hypothesis that natural categories have reference point stimuli in relation to which other stimuli of that same category are judged. (Author/DEP)
Descriptors: Association (Psychology), Color, Distance, Stimuli
Peer reviewedCowan, Thaddeus M. – Teaching of Psychology, 1974
Eight visual effects of interest in a discussion of perception and a ninth, complex effect requiring prior preparations and polaroid filters are described. (Author/JH)
Descriptors: Overhead Projectors, Perception, Visual Aids, Visual Perception
Ortony, Andrew – Educational Technology, 1975
A discussion of how three-dimension might be used for education. (HB)
Descriptors: Communications, Educational Television, Learning Modalities, Visual Perception
Peer reviewedEdmondston, Paul – Journal of Creative Behavior, 1975
This essay was an attempt to develop a conceptual model of creative visual intelligence, based on an analysis of the behaviors of highly productive visual artists. (Author/RK)
Descriptors: Artists, Creativity, Models, Visual Arts
Houck, Robert L.; and others – Percept Mot Skills, 1969
Descriptors: Research, Spatial Relationship, Vertical Organization, Visual Perception
Lodge, Ann; and others – Child Develop, 1969
Research supported largely by grant HD-02296 from the National Institutes of Health, U.S. Public Health Service.
Descriptors: Electroencephalography, Infant Behavior, Infants, Vision

Descriptors: College Students, Experiments, Males, Research
Illuminating Engineering Research Inst., New York, NY. – 1966
Several of the more familiar Illuminating Engineering Research Institute projects which have been chronicled progressively during the past several years are discussed in this report. Those elaborated on are--(1) visual performance and illumination, (2) roadway visual tasks, (3) color preference studies, (4) glare from large sources, (5) discomfort…
Descriptors: Lighting, Physical Environment, Research Projects, Visual Perception
Peer reviewedCohen, Leslie B.; And Others – Child Development, 1977
Two experiments with 18-week-old infants employed an interference paradigm to study infant visual memory for faces. (Author/JMB)
Descriptors: Infants, Memory, Recognition, Retention Studies
Peer reviewedGreenberg, David J.; Blue, Sima Z. – Child Development, 1977
Descriptors: Attention, Infants, Research Methodology, Stimuli
Peer reviewedMcGurk, Harry; And Others – Child Development, 1977
In these two studies, neonatal oculomotor behavior was observed under various conditions of visual and auditory stimulation. Findings showed auditory and visual perception to be relatively independent during the neonatal period. (Author/JMB)
Descriptors: Auditory Perception, Infants, Neonates, Tracking
Peer reviewedAntell, Sue E.; And Others – Developmental Psychology, 1985
Evaluates infants less than 1 week of age in a habituation-recovery paradigm for evidence of ability to detect an invariant identity or nonidentity relationship between components of a visual stimulus. (Author/NH)
Descriptors: Neonates, Visual Discrimination, Visual Perception, Visual Stimuli
Peer reviewedGranrud, Carl E.; And Others – Child Development, 1984
A total of 20 infants either five or seven months of age viewed computer-generated random-lot displays in which accretion and deletion of texture provided the only information for contours. Infants of both age groups showed significant preferences to reach for the apparently nearer regions in the displays. (Author/RH)
Descriptors: Depth Perception, Infants, Spatial Ability, Visual Perception
Peer reviewedAcredolo, Linda P.; And Others – Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 1984
Investigates the role active, self-produced movement might play in the type of rotation task typically used to assess spatial orientation in children 12 months to 18 months of age. Results indicated that, at least at 12 months, spatial orientation was indeed facilitated by allowing the infants (n = 13) to move through space on their own. (RH)
Descriptors: Infants, Perception, Spatial Ability, Visual Perception
Peer reviewedBaum, Andrew; Davis, Glenn E. – Environment and Behavior, 1976
This paper discusses mediation of the crowding experience in architectural interiors by three environmental variables: setting orientation, room color, and visual complexity of the interior. Data indicated interior design does influence space perception and crowding thresholds. (RH)
Descriptors: Architecture, Attitudes, Environment, Facilities
