Item statistics between illustrated and written items drawn from the same content areas were compared using F ratios. The results indicated: that illustrated items performed slightly better than matched written items; and that the best performing category of illustrated items was tables. (Author/BB)

Self-reports and teacher-ratings were used with eight year old children in assessing their attitudes toward school, teacher, self, and independence. Results indicated teachers tend to rate unidimensionally and their ratings correlate more highly with achievement. (Author/JKS)

Six studies investigated the use of pictorial material in a group setting to measure the cognitive level of children (age 7 to 11) on eight Piagetian concepts. Children were low to middle socioeconomic status with 60 percent Spanish surnames. Factor analysis and clinical administration supported test validity. (Author/CTM)
