This work asks one simple question: "how reliable is the method used by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) to estimate projected rates of VET program completion?" Kass, Darrin; Grandzol, Christian; Bommer, William – Journal of Education for Business, 2012
Consistent with previous research, the authors found that the combined use of undergraduate grade point average and the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) verbal and quantitative sections successfully predicted performance in a master of business administration (MBA) program. Zelin, Martin L. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1971
In general, this study found that the validity of single MMPI scales for predicting psychiatric symptoms was too low to be clinically useful for predictions about the individual case. The psychotic scales were particularly lacking in validity. The validity data for all scales is given. (Author/CG)

Levine, Frederic J. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1971
Wolitzky's theoretical objections to the premises of a recent study by Levine are traced to some misunderstandings of the study's rationale, and to a difference in definition of the concept of constricted versus flexible control. (Author)

Frank, Austin C. – Journal of Counseling Psychology, 1971
In testing the Academic Achievement scale, no relationship was found to persistence or between entering first-year Academic Achievement scale scores and 4-year grade point average. Comparisons with a scholastic ability test were unfavorable, other results ambiguous, and caution seems indicated in using the scale. (Author)

Wolitzky, David L. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1971
In a recent study, Levine concluded that there was a lack of support for the concept of constricted versus flexible cognitive control. It is suggested that this conclusion is misleading in view of issues concerning the logic of the derived predictions and the statistical power of the study. (Author)

Smith, John E.; And Others – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1971
The purpose of this study was to construct a scale to discriminate between those students who are likely to drop out of school and those who are not. The results indicate that this must be only the first of many steps. (Author)

MEDLEY, DONALD M. – 1967
AT PRESENT, THE PART OF ANY TEACHER EFFECTIVENESS CRITERION THAT CAN BE PREDICTED WITH A SELECTION TEST IS PROBABLY IRRELEVANT TO TEACHER COMPETENCE. TESTING THE VALIDITY OF PREDICTORS OF TEACHER COMPETENCE IS IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE IT WOULD REQUIRE HIRING A SIZABLE RANDOM SAMPLE OF ALL WHO APPLY FOR POSITIONS, WITHOUT PRIOR SCREENING. FURTHER,…

The study was directed towards the further exploration of the use of attribute ratings as the basis for establishing the job component validity of tests, in particular by using different methods of combining "attribute-based" data with "job analysis" data to form estimates of the aptitude requirements of jobs. The primary focus…

A multivariate analysis of variance, using three factors obtained from a preschool developmental index (Neale Scales) as the dependent variables, and group membership based on subsequent longitudinal reading performance as the independent variables, resulted in a significant multivariate F for a sample of 204 kindergarten children.
