Developmental By-Pass Techniques for Teaching the Secondary Learning Disabled Student.
Mosby, Robert J., Ed.
Described is an interdisciplinary mainstreaming program for individualizing instruction for secondary learning disabled students, utilizing resource facilities in grades 7-9 in eight separate centers throughout Franklin County, Missouri. Aspects of this program--such as the developmental and by-pass strategies of instruction employed to help students gain the knowledge, concepts, and information necessary to cope with the regular classroom curriculum--are explained. Papers are included on such topics as instructional techniques for meeting the needs of various learning disabled students, developmental by-pass technologies of Missouri Child Service Demonstration Center (CSDC), Missouri CSDC first year research accomplishments, management of a resource room, administrative problems of implementation, teaching literature to the learning disabled student, and serving the behaviorally disturbed/learning disabled student.
