This statement of understandings sets forth the various provisions of board policy of the St. Louis Community College that are applicable to full-time faculty employees. Provisions in this statement were discussed between an administrative committee appointed on behalf of the district and a committee representing the Junior College District-National Education Association. The 32 articles in the agreement relate to recognition and rights of the union; board and management rights and responsibilities; discussion procedures and impasse; nondiscrimination; personnel files; personal and academic freedom; outside employment for full-time employees; faculty responsibilities and workload; conference attendance; evaluation; transfer and retraining; minimum qualifications for academic rank; advancement on the salary schedule; full-time faculty salary schedule; overload compensation and summer salaries for full-time faculty; special problems, independent study, and low enrollment courses; employee insurance and annuity; faculty promotion in academic rank; dues and payroll deductions; paid and unpaid leaves of absence; retirement; employment of family members and educational benefits for employees and their families; faculty grievance process; reduction in force; non-renewal of contract; dismissal; resignations; working conditions; and a savings clause.
