Dickerson, Jennifer Dale
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Trevecca Nazarene University
This study aimed to investigate the correlation between teacher morale in relation to job satisfaction in a K-12 rural school district in West Tennessee using a quantitative correlational design. Data collection of 90 certified teachers included teacher survey results from the Purdue Teacher Opinionaire and the Basic Needs Satisfaction at Work scale. This study is based on job satisfaction through the self-determination theory of autonomy, competence, and relatedness. The results of this study indicated that teacher morale and job satisfaction had a strong relationship in regard to teacher rapport with principals. The findings of this study will be beneficial to school districts when exploring ways to find root causes for teacher morale.
