Three Israeli universities have developed highly successful programs for retirees. Unanticipated results include retired student interest in opening another such program, student organization for extracurricular activities, and the emergence of new forms of retired person volunteerism. (MSE)

In response to a new law requiring provision of adult continuing education, a Norwegian university developed a social sciences distance education program for high school teachers that was well received and successful but was found to be overambitious and in conflict with teachers' heavy workloads.
