Trends in ethnicity and gender in relation to varying measures of educational achievement found in the Canadian censuses of 1921 and 1981 are examined. It is argued that despite some problems, census data can be used to discern aggregate trends over time that qualify many contemporary myths. (MSE)

The two goals of this study were to examine factors affecting parents' teaching strategies with their children and to identify the effectiveness of different teaching strategies for engaging children in tasks.
