Garcia-Garzon, Eduardo; Abad, Francisco J.; Garrido, Luis E. – Journal of Intelligence, 2019
There has been increased interest in assessing the quality and usefulness of short versions of the Raven's Progressive Matrices. A recent proposal, composed of the last twelve matrices of the Standard Progressive Matrices (SPM-LS), has been depicted as a valid measure of "g." Nonetheless, the results provided in the initial validation…

Bounds are obtained for a coefficient proposed by Kaiser as a measure of average correlation and the coefficient is given an interpretation in the context of reliability theory. It is suggested that the root-mean-square intercorrelation may be a more appropriate measure of degree of relationships among a group of variables. (Author)

An alternative derivation of Tryon's basic formula for the coefficient of domain validity or the coefficient of generalizability developed by Cronbach, Rajaratnam, and Glaser is provided. This derivation, which is also the generalized Kuder-Richardson coefficient, requires a relatively minimal number of assumptions compared with that in previously…

Behm, Robert J.; Schill, William J.
A technique for assessing the agreement between the Q-sorts of two or more groups of subjects is presented which relies on the relationship between the Kendall coefficient of concordance (W) and the Spearman rank order correlation (rho). The proposed statistical treatment of Q-sort data involves the use of a number of intercorrelations rather than…

This article is concerned with estimation of components of maximum generalizability in multifacet experimental designs involving multiple dependent measures. An example of a two-facet partially nested design is provided. (Author/RC)

A procedure for estimating the reliability of a factorially complex composite is considered. An application of its use with Scholastic Aptitude Test data is provided. (Author/JKS)

Two indices of profile reliability are shown to be equivalent in terms of the individual independent canonical composites; however, because of different weighting procedures, they yield different overall indices of profile reliability. A common formula is provided from which both indices can be derived. (Author)

Described and listed herein with concomitant sample input and output is the Fortran IV program which estimates parameters and standard errors of estimate per parameters for parameters estimated through multiple matrix sampling. The specific program is an improved and expanded version of an earlier version. (Author/BJG)

This report gives some simple examples of stability for one factor and 2 x 2 factorial analysis of variance, reliability and correlations. The findings are very different: from superstability (no transformation whatsoever can change the result) to almost total instability. This is followed by a discussion of applications to multivariate analysis,…

The Children's Interaction Matrix, Intermediate and Primary Forms, are designed to identify the preferred work and content styles of children in group situations. These factors aid the researcher, teacher, and counselor in understanding the individual's preferred mode of behavior in groups as well as indicating the students' reaction to group…

This paper is an extended series of appendices to the report "Exploring the T.R.Q.: An Assessment of the Effectiveness of the Teachers' Rating Questionnaire," Report Number 123. It should be most useful to those familiar with multiple regression analysis and factor analysis and wishing a more complex record of the statistical procedures…

Harris, Chester W.; And Others – 1977
The implications of a mathematical model of test scores are explored where the data are limited to a random sample of items without replacement from an indefinitely large population or item domain in which items are scored either zero or one. The purpose is to obtain an unbiased estimate of a student's proportion of items correct in the item…

Besel, Ronald – 1971
The Mastery-Learning test model is extended. Methods for estimating prior probabilities are described. The use of an adjustment matrix to transform a probability of mastery measure and empirical methods for estimating adjustment matrix parameters are derived. Adjustment matrices are interpreted as indicators of instructional effectiveness and as…

Employed were a small sample of fifth graders to examine techniques for assessing the validity of psychosocial maturity (PSM) and the scales used to measure it. Three validation techniques were examined: (1) Data obtained from self-report scales, teacher ratings, and peer ratings were used to generate three multitrait-multimethod matrices (total…
