Peer reviewedKoslowsky, Meni – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
The technique of generalizing sample results in a classification study to large subpopulations of unequal sizes was examined. The usual output from the discriminant analysis routine in the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences was extended to handle the present statistical problems. Advantages of the technique were discussed. (Author/DWH)

Peer reviewedLarrabee, Marva J. – Journal of Counseling Psychology, 1982
Presents several multivariate analyses of variance (MANOVA) test procedures. Discusses guidelines for choosing an overall MANOVA test statistic and post hoc tests that determine the dependent variable or variables responsible for any significant effects. Concludes that guidelines based on recent comparisons of the various test statistics be used.…

BARNETT, F.C.; SAW, J.G. – 1964
A WORKING MODEL CAPABLE OF RANKING INDIVIDUALS IN A RANDOM SAMPLE FROM A MULTIVARIATE POPULATION BY SOME CRITERION OF INTEREST WAS DEVELOPED. THE MULTIPLE CORRELATION COEFFICIENT OF RANKS WITH MEASURED VARIATES AS A STATISTIC IN TESTING WHETHER RANKS ARE ASSOCIATED WITH MEASUREMENTS WAS EMPLOYED AND DUBBED "QUASI-RANK MULTIPLE CORRELATION…

Blumstein, Alfred; Cohen, Jacqueline – Evaluation Quarterly, 1979
Evaluations involving nonrandom assignment to treatment or control groups are vulnerable to an accidental or intentional confounding of a selection effect with the treatment effect. Two techniques, discriminant analysis and base expectancy analysis, permit separate estimation of the selection and treatment effects in the final results. (Author/CTM)
