Thiessen, Erik D.; Pavlik, Philip I., Jr. – Cognitive Science, 2013
Statistical learning refers to the ability to identify structure in the input based on its statistical properties. For many linguistic structures, the relevant statistical features are distributional: They are related to the frequency and variability of exemplars in the input. These distributional regularities have been suggested to play a role in…

Marshall, Neil; Buteau, Chantal – International Journal for Technology in Mathematics Education, 2014
As part of their undergraduate mathematics curriculum, students at Brock University learn to create and use computer-based tools with dynamic, visual interfaces, called Exploratory Objects, developed for the purpose of conducting pure or applied mathematical investigations. A student's Development Process Model of creating and using an Exploratory…

Metcalfe Eich, Janet – Psychological Review, 1982
A model of association formation, storage, and retrieval is described. Experiments which test new predictions derived from the model against human recall are reported. The model is applied to previous findings: prototype abstraction, the A-B A-D paradigm and the Osgood transfer surface. Previous models of memory are discussed. (Author/RD)

Bleau, Barbara Lee – Higher Education, 1981
Planning model literature from its earliest use to the present, emphasizing the generalized resource allocation models, is summarized. Several examples of categories of models are cited. An in-depth analysis of six resource allocation models (e.g., CAMPUS Simulation Model, TRADES Financial Planning Model) is presented. (Author/MLW)

Kuhl, Julius; Blankenship, Virginia – Psychological Review, 1979
Atkinson and Birch's dynamic theory of action is discussed with regard to achievement motivation theory. Implications are derived that are in contrast to expectations derived from traditional episodic theories. Implications of dynamic theory for the theory of fear of failure are discussed. Recent results support the dynamic theory. (Author/RD)

Gustafsson, Jan-Eric – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1979
Computer generated data are used to show that Slinde and Linn's criticism of the usefulness of the Rasch model for equating (EJ 189 585) may have been the result of an artifact produced by the manner in which the samples were chosen in their study. (CTM)
