De Ayala, R. J.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1991
To investigate the effect on item parameter estimation of pooling the raters' ratings and to examine the information content of 2 types of writing samples, the partial credit model was fit to 2,000 writing samples from secondary students that had been holistically scored. Implications for test construction are discussed. (SLD)

Dorans, Neil J. – 1983
A formal analysis is presented of the effects of item deletion on equating/scaling functions and reported score distributions. The phrase "item deletion" refers to the process of changing the original key of a flawed item to either all options correct, including omits, or to no options correct, i.e., not scoring the flawed item. Cook, Linda L.; Douglass, James B. – 1982
The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) was equated to the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) using item response theory (IRT) in a three-parameter logistic model. Estimated true formula score equating was used. Only the mathematical sections of the PSAT/NMSQT and SAT were used because the…

Yeh, Jennie P. – 1980
A proficiency model that provides information on individuals' mastery status on specific skills is illustrated. The model describes the construction and scoring of mastery tests as well as the organization and reporting of individual and group testing results. With the model, an individual's mastery status with respect to various skills can be…

Huntley, Renee M.; Carlson, James E. – 1986
This study compared student performance on language-usage test items presented in two different formats: as discrete sentences and as items embedded in passages. American College Testing (ACT) Program's Assessment experimental units were constructed that presented 40 items in the two different formats. Results suggest item presentation may not…
