Describes oral tests for different teaching levels that can be used by regular classroom teachers with normal size classes. At the beginning levels, oral assessment is done through role playing or "talk cards," and at the advanced levels, an oral interview is the major part of a mixed skill task. (EKN)

A test of logic was given to 862 students in their first, second, and fourth years in Lesotho secondary schools. Results supported the contention that while difficulty in understanding English contributes to difficulty with the logical grammar necessary for mathematics, there are factors other than second language interference to consider. Describes an experiment designed to determine which language errors interfere to the greatest degree with comprehension by native speakers of the language.
