Colleges are ranked based on results of a Spring 1973 survey on the number of full-time and part-time professors of Japanese and on the number of undergrad and grad students of Japanese. The Department of Germanic Languages at the University of Texas at Austin has developed a language program in which students are trained in listening and reading comprehension before practicing production.
