Analyzing Student Performance and Shifts in Perceptions about Science in a Student-Centered versus Teacher-Centered Introductory Biology Course
Neil Sabine1; Jill Schweitzer1
Journal of College Science Teaching, v54 n2 p108-118 2025
A comparison of student performance in an introductory biology class that used a lecture-based approach (N = 15 classes; 462 students) with those that had a no-lecture approach (N = 9 classes; 238 students). All classes were taught by the principal researcher. In the no- lecture environment, shifts in student perceptions of science were investigated by comparing student responses to survey questions at the beginning of the class with their responses at the end of the class.
