Daniel Ojeda-del Sol; Anthony Aguiar-Medina; Isel Pascual-Alonso – Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Education, 2025
The study and analysis of enzymatic reactions are essential for characterizing various biological systems. As part of these procedures, it is important to understand how to quantify the biological activity of these proteins in terms of enzymatic activity. This work proposes a general equation for determining enzymatic activity based on…

Christie, Derek – Physics Teacher, 2014
This simple experiment uses an unusual graph straightening exercise to confirm the parallel axis theorem for an irregular object. Along the way, it estimates experimental values for g and the moment of inertia of a tennis racket. We use Excel to find a 95% confidence interval for the true values.
Descriptors: Graphs, Science Education, Racquet Sports, Computation
Peer reviewedHodder, A. Peter – Journal of Geological Education, 1990
The design and data management of an activity to study weathering by increasing the rate of mineral dissolution in a microwave oven is described. Data analysis in terms of parabolic and first-order kinetics is discussed. (CW)
Descriptors: College Science, Computation, Data Analysis, Earth Science
Peer reviewedMartinez Sancho, Maria Eugenie; And Others – Chemical Engineering Education, 1991
An activity in which students obtain a growth curve for algae, identify the exponential and linear growth phases, and calculate the parameters which characterize both phases is described. The procedure, a list of required materials, experimental conditions, analytical technique, and a discussion of the interpretations of individual results are…
Descriptors: Calculus, Chemistry, College Science, Computation
Peer reviewedLockett, Keith – Physics Education, 1988
Demonstrates several objects rolling down a slope to explain the energy transition among potential energy, translational kinetic energy, and rotational kinetic energy. Contains a problem from Galileo's rolling ball experiment. (YP)
Descriptors: Acceleration (Physics), Computation, Demonstrations (Educational), Energy
