Peer reviewedBergen, Bruce R. – Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness, 1980
An investigation was conducted to observe the effects of hearing aids on the ability of 20 blind veterans to localize white noise. In all cases, Ss performed more poorly on a localization task while wearing a hearing aid. (Author)

Peer reviewedLeonhardt, M. – Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness, 1990
The article describes current research on stereotypes in a group of blind children in Barcelona, Spain. Mannerisms and blindisms covering a range of verbal and motor behavior are defined and discussed, as are the variables of behavior related to them. (Author/DB)

Peer reviewedKing, Daniel W.; Bashey, Husain I. – Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness, 1978
The pilot study investigates a method by which blind individuals might administer an abbreviated form of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale. (Author/SBH)

Peer reviewedBentzen, Billie Louise; Peck, Alec F. – Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness, 1979
To facilitate appropriate line choice for tactile graphic displays, 42 visually impaired Ss traced four types of tactile lines in a simple display (without intersections), and in a complex display (having intersections). (Author)

Peer reviewedUslan, Mark M. – Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness, 1978
Measurements of height of cane hand, cane length, step size, and forearm length of 17 cane using blind (14-21 years old) Ss were taken for the purpose of testing the hypothesis that the touch technique does not provide 100 percent path coverage. (Author)

Peer reviewedWelch, James – Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness, 1977
The timbre of various Sonicguide (an ultar-sonic binaural device mounted in a spectacle frame) signals was measured and analyzed by a "Sona-Graph" (sound spectral analyzer) to aid/mobility training of blind Ss. (Author/MH)

Peer reviewedFeinman, Saul – Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness, 1979
In the study, eight random samples of respondents (236 adult Ss) from a small Western city were presented with questionnaires which requested that they evaluate the characteristics of a stimulus person who varied by sightedness (blind, totally sightless, partially sighted, sighted), and age (35 or 65 years). Peer reviewedHinton, R. A. L.; Ayres, D. G. – Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness, 1987
The Tactile Diagrams Research Project at Loughborough University of Technology (England) developed 164 tactile diagrams for teaching 22 biological themes to blind students. Evaluation of the diagrams found most to be effective when properly introduced to students, and used with supporting text or tapes. (CB)
