Peer reviewedKier, Frederick J.; Melancon, Janet G.; Thompson, Bruce – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1998
The reliability and construct validity of scores on the Personal Preferences Self-Description Questionnaire (PPSDQ) (B. Thompson) were studied. Classical psychometric analysis of data from 641 participants (item and alpha analyses and both oblique and orthogonal exploratory factor analyses) indicate that the PPSDQ has reasonable properties. (SLD)

Shea, Andrew J.; Slaney, Robert B.; Rice, Kenneth G. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2006
The authors describe 2 studies on the development of the Dyadic Almost Perfect Scale (A. J. Shea & R. B. Slaney, 1999). In Study 1 (N = 389), confirmatory analyses validated the factor structure of the measure, and additional results supported the reliability and construct validity of the subscale scores. In Study 2 (N = 280), data again…

Ramsdell, Heather L.; Oller, D. Kimbrough; Ethington, Corinna A. – Clinical Linguistics & Phonetics, 2007
The purpose of this study is to provide new perspectives on correlates of phonetic transcription agreement. Our research focuses on phonetic transcription and coding of infant vocalizations. The findings are presumed to be broadly applicable to other difficult cases of transcription, such as found in severe disorders of speech, which similarly…

Peer reviewedSmith, Eleanor F.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1997
Evidence for the internal consistency-reliability and construct validity of scores on the 6 dimensions of the Dimensions of Self-Concept Scale was provided through results from 107 registered nurses. Confirmatory maximum likelihood factor analyses indicated that a six-factor oblique model accounted for the greatest proportion of the covariance.…

Peer reviewedMarsh, Herbert W.; Plucker, Jonathan A.; Stocking, Vicki B. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 2001
Reanalyzed data from the Self-Description Questionnaire II (SDQII) from an earlier study of 376 gifted students, and a new study of 837 gifted students to explore alternative approaches to missing data and data normalization. Results strongly support the construct validity of responses to the SDQII by gifted adolescents. (SLD)

Ostrov, Jamie M. – Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 2006
A multi-informant study investigated the association between deception capacities and subtypes of aggression in a young early childhood sample (M=44.65 months of age, SD=13.39, N=64). A newly developed teacher report of deception had appropriate psychometric properties (reliability, concurrent validity, and construct validity). Recently introduced…

Kay, Robin H.; Knaack, Liesel – Educational Technology Research and Development, 2009
Learning objects are interactive web-based tools that support the learning of specific concepts by enhancing, amplifying, and/or guiding the cognitive processes of learners. Research on the impact, effectiveness, and usefulness of learning objects is limited, partially because comprehensive, theoretically based, reliable, and valid evaluation…
