The Design and Implementation of a Digital, Multimodal Researcher Journal in Program Evaluation Using Self-Study Methods. Sage Research Methods: Doing Research Online
Lori McKee
Sage Research Methods Cases
This methods case study describes the design and implementation of a digital, multimodal journal from a yearlong program evaluation using self-study methods. The program evaluation focused on the author's transition of practice from elementary teacher to teacher educator and aimed to improve the author's practice. The design of the digital, multimodal journal originated in the author's practice of pedagogical documentation used in the early elementary classroom. This practice was adapted as a way to document reflections in/on her shifting practice. This case describes the construction of the journal and includes a discussion of the affordances and challenges of using the Google Keep digital platform to support program evaluation. The case invites researchers to imagine ways they may adapt tools from professional practice to support program evaluation and research. [This content is provided in the format of an e-book.]
