Developing instructional programing priorities and planning program improvements require an understanding of how effectively program objectives are being met. A formalized process for evaluating programs has been developed at Vancouver Community College as an aid in these and other aspects of instructional planning. (SSH)

Three different competency-based vocational programs were analyzed to investigate how competencies are determined, how the programs are organized, and how students are evaluated. Results show that there is no set method for producing a high quality competency-based program. (CH)

Vocational education offerings can be linked with employment opportunities by identifying specialties and sub-specialties of the primary occupation and then listing the occupation titles to determine the training program's organization and to name its component courses and units. Such linkages benefit the employer, the school, and the student. (CH)

Describes a project that evaluated students' attitudes and achievement when working with CAL (computer-assisted learning) lessons designed using the Coursewriter authoring system.
