Since 1974 the University of Louisville has sent medical students to a rural area to receive their core surgical clerkship experience as part of an area health education system program. The first five years of the program and its effect on residency selection are reviewed. (Author/MLW)

Reports on two do-it-yourself treatment programs for dealing with stage fright. One program followed a systematic desensitization paradigm; the other was a handout listing 16 strategies for understanding stage fright. Higher ratings were given to the handout strategy. The scores of the officers who had undergone the training program demonstrated a significantly higher knowledge of life skills, a stronger sense of self-confidence, and a somewhat lower dogmatic attitude. (Author)
