Ioannou, Andri; Brown, Scott W.; Hannafin, Robert D.; Boyer, Mark A. – Computers in the Schools, 2009
This study investigated whether using multimedia-based instructional material in a problem-based social studies simulation enhances student learning about world issues, increases interest in social studies, and generates positive attitudes toward the instruction. The GlobalEd Project, a Web-based international negotiation simulation embedded in…

Evans, Karen L.; Yaron, David; Leinhardt, Gaea – Chemistry Education Research and Practice, 2008
Even after repeated instruction, first year college chemistry students are often unable to apply stoichiometry knowledge to equilibrium and acid-base chemistry problems. The dynamic and interactive capabilities of online technology may facilitate stoichiometry instruction that promotes more meaningful learning. This study compares a…

Bashook, Philip G. – Performance and Instruction, 1982
Reviews the development of programed instruction for problem solving from the Tab Test in 1955 to Patient Management Problems (PMP) in 1967 and written simulation for any setting in 1976. The process of creating written simulations is briefly described, as well as some current developments involving microcomputers and videodiscs. (EAO)

Kim, Chulwan; Rangaswamy, Arvind; DeSarbo, Wayne S. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1999
Presents an approach to multidimensional unfolding that reduces the occurrence of degenerate solutions and conducts a Monte Carlo study to demonstrate the superiority of the new method to the ALSCAL and KYST nonmetric procedures for student preference data. (SLD)

Gokhale, Anu A. – Journal of Industrial Teacher Education, 1996
Electronics students (16 controls, 16 experimentals) designed, built, and tested an amplifier. The experimentals did so after it was designed through computer simulation (using Electronics Workbench software). The experimental group performed significantly better on problem-solving tests; both groups did the same on drill and practice tests. (SK)
