Pearl, Judea – Sociological Methods & Research, 2015
This article summarizes a conceptual framework and simple mathematical methods of estimating the probability that one event was a necessary cause of another, as interpreted by lawmakers. We show that the fusion of observational and experimental data can yield informative bounds that, under certain circumstances, meet legal criteria of causation.…

Koparan, Timur; Yilmaz, Gül Kaleli – Universal Journal of Educational Research, 2015
The effect of simulation-based probability teaching on the prospective teachers' inference skills has been examined with this research. In line with this purpose, it has been aimed to examine the design, implementation and efficiency of a learning environment for experimental probability. Activities were built on modeling, simulation and the…

Bergan, John R. – Journal of Educational Statistics, 1980
The use of a quasi-equiprobability model in the measurement of observer agreement involving dichotomous coding categories is described. A measure of agreement is presented which gives the probability of agreement under the assumption that observation pairs reflecting disagreement will be equally probable. (Author/JKS)

Towstopiat, Olga – Contemporary Educational Psychology, 1984
The present article reviews the procedures that have been developed for measuring the reliability of human observers' judgments when making direct observations of behavior. These include the percentage of agreement, Cohen's Kappa, phi, and univariate and multivariate agreement measures that are based on quasi-equiprobability and quasi-independence…
