Hartley, Alan A.; Hartley, Joellen T. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1976
A predictive equation for estimating performance in a basic course in methods of psychological research from scores on the Differential Aptitude Test reasoning scales and on the Davis Reading Test, from measures of attitudes toward issues in psychology, and from self-ratings of abilities and of expected course grades is developed. (Author/DEP)

Ukens, Leon L.; Merrifield, Philip R. – Journal of Research in Science Teaching, 1976
Seventeen structure-of-intellect (SI) abilities were tested as predictors of success in a Conceptually Oriented Program in Elementary Science (COPES) unit. Three SI abilities involving convergent productive thinking and one involving divergent productive thinking were shown to be significant predictors. (MLH)

Ormrod, Jeanne Ellis – Journal of the College and University Personnel Association, 1986
Faculty resistance to an annual faculty evaluation system implemented at the University of Northern Colorado was widespread. Four factors characterized faculty members most dissatisfied with the evaluation of their performance: years in service at the university, level of the evaluation, impact on salary, and inconsistency among the evaluators.…

Morgan, Robert G.; And Others – Journal of Education for Business, 1985
A study was conducted to find some quantitative predictors of student success in Intermediate Accounting I that an advisor can use as an aid in student counseling. The AICPA Level I Form C test and the average grade in principles courses proved to be reasonable predictors of success. (CT)

Linn, Robert L. – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1984
The common approach to studies of predictive bias is analyzed within the context of a conceptual model in which predictors and criterion measures are viewed as fallible indicators of idealized qualifications. (Author/PN)

Gross, Alan L. – Psychometrika, 1973
Expressions for the expected value, density, and distribution function (DF) of GS (gain from selection) are derived and studied in terms of sample size, number of predictors, and the prior distribution assigned to the population multiple correlation. (Author/RK)

Clemente, Frank – American Journal of Sociology, 1973
The publication records of 2,205 holders of the Ph.D. in sociology are examined for the period 1940-70. The predictive efficiency of six independent variables is assessed via regression analysis. A seventh variable is used as a control. Results of the study and directions for future research are presented and discussed. (SM)

Miller, Wilma H. – Illinois School Research, 1972
To individualize instruction in reading, a system of diagnostic measures must be used to establish needs areas. Author examines a number of such measures and proposes subsequent study culminating in a Predictive Index. (Editor/MB)

Nickens, John Marcus – Journal of Educational Research, 1972
In the case of success-failure predictions, approximately 75 percent of those predicted to succeed did and 51 percent of those predicted to fail failed. (Editor)

Halinski, Ronald S.; Feldt, Leonard S. – J Educ Meas, 1970
Four commonly employed procedures were repeatedly applied to computer-simulated samples to provide comparative data pertaining to two questions: (a) which procedure can be expected to produce and equation that yields the most accurate predictions for the population, and (b) which procedure is most likely to identify the optimal set of independent…

Lunneborg, Patricia W. – Educ Psychol Meas, 1970
Personality patterns did not improve prediction from aptitude and achievement variables in the weight determination sample and in cross-validation actually cancelled out predictability from traditional measures. Prediction of college grades from high school grades and aptitude tests was, on the other hand. both accurate and consistent. (Author)

Linn, Robert L.; Werts, Charles E. – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1971
Two problems in the investigation of predictive bias in tests, the effect of unreliability of the predictors, and the effect of excluding a predictor from the regression equation on which there are preexisting group differences, are discussed. (Author)
