Peer reviewedCivington, Janet B.; And Others – Journal of Employment Counseling, 1978
Examines data from the General Aptitude Test Battery (GATB) to predict passage of the GED examination. Data were collected and analyzed from four different geographically diffuse states for both comparative and predictive capabilities. The G and V scores on these subtests (at 110 or greater) indicate almost definite prediction. (Author)

Mitchell, James V., Jr. – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1976
An empirical model was developed to represent the organization of the value-attitude system as postualted by Rokeach, and the model was used to determine the internal consistency of the system, its structure and components, and the extent to which the system permitted the prediction of attitudes from values. Peer reviewedJoslyn, Dan; And Others – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1978
The Embellishment score on the Memory-For-Designs Test (MFD) may be a useful predictor of confabulation. Male (N=16) patients who were judged by staff to be habitual confabulators embellished their drawings on the MFD twice as frequently as a group of 16 patients of similar age (40-80) and diagnosis judged to be nonconfabulators. Peer reviewedBrannigan, Gary G.; Benowity, Martin L. – Psychology in the Schools, 1975
This study explores the relationship between performance on the Bender-Gestalt test and antisocial acting out tendencies in adolescents. Results indicate that uneven figure size and exaggerated curvature are the best indicators of antisocial acting out tendencies. (Author)
Descriptors: Adolescents, Antisocial Behavior, Predictive Measurement, Predictor Variables
Boyd, Gail B.; Hawkins, Myron B. – 1971
The project summarized by this report involved a preliminary design of a model for estimating and predicting the quantity and composition of solid waste and a determination of its feasibility. The novelty of the prediction model is that it estimates and predicts on the basis of knowledge of materials and quantities before they become a part of the…

Peer reviewedHeilbrun, Alfred B., Jr. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1974
Study involved attempts to improve upon the Counseling Readiness Scales by the empirical development of correction keys using the remaining items from the Adjective Check List. This effort was successful as far as improved discrimination between both male and female true negatives and false negatives. (Author)
Descriptors: College Students, Counseling Effectiveness, Individual Characteristics, Predictive Measurement
Peer reviewedTelegdy, Gabriel A. – Psychology in the Schools, 1975
Results suggest that the STAR or MRT, coupled with teacher observations and the BGT, can provide a school system with an adequate screening readiness battery. Of the several skills measured by readiness tests, letter knowledge is the most predictive of actual first grade achievement. (Author)
Descriptors: Learning Readiness, Predictive Measurement, Primary Education, Readiness
Peer reviewedSewell, Trevor E.; Severson, Roger A. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1975
Investigates the relationship between the WISC IQ and academic achievement in regularily placed first-grade black children. (Author)
Descriptors: Academic Achievement, Black Students, Elementary Education, Intelligence Tests
Holland, John L. – 1974
Several predictors of occupational choice derived from a theory of careers (Holland, 1973) were examined. Hypotheses that a person's competencies, activities, self-estimates, interests, and vocational choices can be organized by a six-category typology to understand and predict subsequent choice were tested. Samples of 894 men and 989 women took…

Sturges, Jack; Yarbrough, Roy D. – 1974
The research was designed to determine whether: (1) ninth-grade male and female students differ in their perceptions of job characteristics which would be important to them in choosing an occupation, (2) ninth-grade male and female students differ in their perceptions of what constitutes job "success," and (3) counselors and teachers can predict…

Peer reviewedKnapp, Martin R. J. – Journal of Gerontology, 1976
Taking multidimensional life satisfaction as the basic premise of this study, a four-equation multiple regression model was constructed for its prediction. Results indicated that the pattern of regressor influence varied greatly between equations, providing fairly specific evidence on a number of previously espoused hypotheses. (Author)

Peer reviewedShawver, Lois; Jew, Charles – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1978
Kunce, Ryan, and Eckelman have reported some promising evidence on an index for predicting violent behavior derived from differential Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) characteristics. The present study is an attempt to replicate their findings. Results of this study were unsuccessful. (Author)

Peer reviewedAllsop, John F.; Feldman, M. Philip – Social Behavior and Personality, 1974
Four groups of Ss, ranging from 11 and 12 year-olds to 14 and 15 year-olds, were tested on the Junior P.Q., and on an anonymous self-report questionnaire. Results indicate that Eysenck's theory of antisocial behavior is capable of predictions concerning the range of misbehavior engaged in by secondary school girls. (Author)

Weeks, Joseph L.; Mullins, Cecil J. – 1975
The identification of variables useful in the prediction of drug abuse has been the subject of a great deal of research. The research presented in this report attempts to add to the existing collection of information concerning variables useful in the prediction of drug abuse. An experimental instrument, the Social Factors Questionnaire, was…

Bailiff, Norman Lynn, Jr.; Jacobs, Marion K. – 1974
This paper discusses correlates (not causes) of success in a college chemistry class. It focuses on the immediate and practical concern of identifying those antecedent variables which, because of their close association with success in chemistry, could be used to predict success. Multiple regression analysis determined that the most satisfactory…
