Progress toward Kentucky's Statewide Strategic Agenda Goals: An Annual Report of the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education. 2024 Progress Report
Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education
This report shows how Kentucky and its campuses are faring on key performance indicators associated with the statewide strategic agenda for postsecondary education. Additionally, the report highlights activities the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE) is leading to advance their key priorities: (1) affordability; (2) transitions; (3) success; (4) talent; (5) value; and (6) equity. Positive outcomes from the 2022-23 academic year include undergraduate enrollment nearly rebounding to pre-pandemic levels, increasing 6.5% at Kentucky Community & Technical College System (KCTCS) and 1.6% at public universities over the previous fall. First-year to second-year retention is at an all-time high, surpassing 80% at public universities and 60% at KCTCS. These gains are translating into a more highly skilled workforce. Currently, 55.1% of working-age Kentuckians between the ages of 25 and 64 have a postsecondary credential, up from 54.3% the previous year. Kentucky is on pace to achieve its educational attainment goal of 60% by the year 2030, which will accelerate economic development and raise the standard of living and quality of life.
