Withagen, Ans; Vervloed, Mathijs P. J.; Janssen, Neeltje M.; Knoors, Harry; Verhoeven, Ludo – Journal of Visual Impairment & Blindness, 2010
This study of 48 children with congenital blindness who attended mainstream schools focused on the tactile and haptic skills they needed in typical academic and everyday tasks. The results showed that, in general, the children mastered such tactile tasks, but some items posed special problems. (Contains 4 tables.)

Gould, Lawrence N. – 1969
The relationships of sense modalities included in the broad term "perception" are explored. Vision is a transmission from external world to brain. Ocular mobility and spatial organization abilities are important to vision as it is involved in the perceptual-cognitive process. Kinesthetic and visual behaviors are interrelated and are supplemented…

Martin, Harold P.; and others – Amer J Occup Therapy, 1969
Paper presented at the 48th Annual Conference of the American Occupational Therapy Association, Portland, Oregon, October 20-26, 1968. Research supported by U.S. Public Health Service Grant Number FR05357.
Descriptors: Auditory Perception, Evaluation Methods, Kinesthetic Perception, Perception Tests
Peer reviewedKaufmann-Hayoz, Ruth; And Others – Child Development, 1986
Examines 3-month-old infants' perception of "camouflaged" forms that were only visible when moving. Shows infants effectively use kinetic information to organize visual input in higher-order structures. (HOD)
Descriptors: Habituation, Infants, Kinesthetic Perception, Motion
Herman, P.J. – Academic Therapy, 1983
The article reviews the role of the vestibular system, tactile system, kinesthetic system, visual system, balance, locomotion, body awareness, spatial system, mildline crossing, bilateral integration, form perception, and eye-food coordination in promoting an integrated motor base on which later learning is built. (CL)

James, Waynne B.; Galbraith, Michael W. – Lifelong Learning, 1985
This article discusses only the perceptual modality, or sensory-intake styles of learning, and the implications for adult education. In addition, several techniques that the practitioner can utilize to assist in helping adult learners identify their learning style(s) are presented. (CT)

Derevensky, Jeffrey L. – 1978
This paper reports on the development and validation of an instrument for recording haptic exploratory behavior through detailed examination of exploratory search strategies of young children. Individual differences within age level were investigated, as well as the extent to which information processing capabilities for haptic perception are…
