Peer reviewedBo, Ola O. – Scandinavian Journal of Educational Research, 1978
Training programs for auditory and for visual figure-ground perception were constructed and tested with brain-damaged and mentally retarded children. Peer reviewedLudt, Richard; Goodrich, Gregory L. – Journal of Visual Impairment & Blindness, 2002
A study evaluated the ability of a dynamic visual assessment and training protocol to improve the ability of 65 persons with legal blindness to detect environmental hazards. Training improved the ability of the majority to detect hazards. The assessments also identified those who did not need training or would not benefit. (Contains references.)…

Britain, Susan D.; And Others – 1979
Kindergarten children were exposed to a behavior modification training activity involving perceptual scanning, which was designed to increase the field-independent mode of perception. The training was evaluated, based upon a group of 18 experimental subjects and a control group of 17 children. Subjects in the training group were individually…

Cosgrove, J. Michael; Patterson, Charlotte, J. – 1977
This study investigates both immediate and delayed effects of two different training procedures on children's listener behavior in a referential communication setting. Using a 2 x 2 design, the presence and absence of a plan for effective listening and modeling of appropriate listener behavior were varied, and the effects of these variations on 40…

Peer reviewedKyllonen, Patrick C.; And Others – Journal of Educational Psychology, 1984
Using 146 high school students, this research assessed the effects of aptitude, strategy training, and item characteristics on the strategic processes employed in the performance of spatial visualization tasks.
