Parkland College Student Occupational Follow-Up Survey, 1999-2000.

This report contains graduate employment data obtained from the 1999-2000 Student Occupational Follow-Up Survey at Parkland College (Illinois). Out of 550 graduates of occupational programs contacted during the summer after graduation, 382 returned surveys (response rate of 70%). Results indicate: (1) about 85% reported they are employed, an increase of 1% from last year; (2) 67% were employed full time (1% decrease) and 20% were employed outside the district (6% decrease); (3) about 51% began their present jobs after leaving college program, 32% while enrolled, and 17% before entering; (4) approximately 82% are employed in a career related field, a 1% decrease from last year; (5) the most frequently cited reasons for not working in a career-related field were: could not find a job in field (4% of all employed respondents); preferred to work in another field (3%); and temporary job while in transition (3%); (6) out of 251 career-related respondents, 84% reported they were very or somewhat satisfied with current job; (7) the average salary was $12.20/hour, about 9% more than 1998-1999's $11.24; and (8) satisfaction ratings for all six items in the major program were high, with the majority feeling somewhat or very satisfied with course content (92%); preparation for further education (80%); and job preparation (80%).
