Sayre, John R. – Learning Today, 1976
Presents two diagrams that model the communication process used by a learner solving academic problems. (PF)
Descriptors: Communication (Thought Transfer), Diagrams, Learning Processes, Library Skills
Peer reviewedMerwin, William C. – High School Journal, 1977
The ability to raise effective questions for problem-solving learning requires considerable skill and much preparation and practice. This research provides a brief examination of three problem-solving models for both elementary and secondary-level classrooms and emphasizes the development of an appropriate teacher question repertory for each phase…

Healy, Alice F. – Journal of Verbal Learning and Verbal Behavior, 1978
A Markov model was proposed to account for the short-term retention of the spatial arrangement of letters. The model was fit to three spatial location recall conditions in experiments which differed in distractor task. The rate of information transfer from primary to secondary memory was affected by changes in distractor task. (SW)
Descriptors: Language Research, Learning Processes, Memory, Models
Peer reviewedLehane, Stephen – Clearing House, 1977
Author contends that much dissatisfaction and alienation surrounding schools stems partly from their failure to have matched their curricula to the various developmental stages through which all students must pass. Peer reviewedNation, Jack R.; McCullers, John C. – American Journal of Psychology, 1977
A theoretical model for estimating the effects of age and incentive on children's performance in probability learning is introduced. Novel predictions of the model about the effects of combinations of age and incentive were tested and confirmed. (Editor/RK)
Descriptors: Age, Charts, Data Analysis, Expectation
Peer reviewedWinne, Philip H. – Elementary School Journal, 1985
Advances a view of instruction based on the nature of cognitive activity, school learning, and instruction and suggests relationships between the CEDARS, cognitive mediational, and task models of instruction. Discusses more than a dozen implications of the cognitive mediational and task models for ways teachers can promote students' cognitive…

Peer reviewedTaylor, James C. – Instructional Science, 1983
Outlines a proposed model for understanding the human information processing system, which is conceptualized in terms of three interrelated major elements--executive, working, and long-term memory--with emphasis on the structure of long-term memory. Thirty-one references are listed. (MBR)
Descriptors: Cognitive Processes, Epistemology, Learning Processes, Learning Theories
Peer reviewedCarlsson, Barbara; And Others – Sloan Management Review, 1976
Describes how the authors developed an understanding of the research and development process at the Proctor and Gamble Company by applying David Kolb's Learning Model for Individuals to the organizational learning process. This paper reports a series of studies in the development of a Study Behavior Questionnaire (SBQ) for use with university students. It attempted to determine optimal ways of combining SBQ item scores: by sorting people's responses to items (R-analysis), or by sorting items on the basis of how they discriminate between people (Q-analysis).…

Peer reviewedHovelynck, Johan – Journal of Adventure Education and Outdoor Learning, 2000
Experiential learning can be understood as a process in which learners recognize and develop their "action-theory."
