Betz, M. Austin; Levin, Joel R. – Journal of Educational Statistics, 1982
Logically consistent hypothesis-testing for factorial analysis of variance designs is proposed in the context of a hierarchical model. It is shown that all of the hypotheses associated with the traditional factorial model are conceptually independent and occupy the lowest levels of the hierarchy. (Author/JKS)

Ross, N. Phillip – 1975
The U.S. Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences has developed a wide range of statistical models to test hypotheses generated in relation to an equally wide range of measurement and evaluation situations. The randomized block (RB) design has traditionally been a preferred model for much psychological research. The RB has…

Tate, Richard L. – 1981
An approach to the analysis of an aptitude-treatment-interaction (ATI) design in which the treatment groups are based on an underlying factorial structure is described and illustrated. The approach emphasizes description with point and interval estimation. The example design considered consisted of two nominal treatment variables and one interval…

Proper, Elizabeth C. – 1971
Texts often suggest running preliminary tests for homogeneity of variance prior to running an ANOVA. While it has been known for some time that most of the suggested tests are probably not appropriate, they are still being used. This paper is a review of the literature in terms of the implications involved in running preliminary tests in general…

Murphy, Marilyn Anne; Davidson, Gayle V. – Journal of Computer-Based Instruction, 1991
Describes a study that tested the applicability of the Tennyson-Cocchiarella concept teaching model for undergraduate nursing education, and investigated the effects of three different learner control strategies on concept learning. The computer-based concept lesson used is described, and effects on recall and retention are discussed. (33…

Baker, Eva L.; And Others – 1985
This is a final report of support received through the National Institute of Education (NIE) to assist in research on the writing ability of United States children. The study began under the auspices of the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) in order to contribute to a cross national assessment of…

Lewis, Mathew W.; Anderson, John R. – Cognitive Psychology, 1985
The process of forming operator schemata was studied in three experiments. In each experiment a greater amount of predictive information in a stimulus item increased the chance of selecting the operator accurately.

Bonk, Curtis J.; Reynolds, Thomas H. – Computers in Human Behavior, 1992
Discussion of cognitive process research on writing focuses on a study of sixth, seventh, and eighth grade middle school students that tested a generative-evaluative model of composition. Treatments for experimental and control groups of ability-grouped students are described, and results are analyzed. (58 references) (LRW)

Vaverek, Kelly A.; Saunders, Carol – Journal of Educational Technology Systems, 1994
Describes a study that investigated the use of computer conferencing systems in a masters-level professional health care program. Previous research is reviewed; message content (i.e., socio-emotional activity versus task activity) is discussed; and the model development of the discipline is used to compare course content. (Contains 42 references.)…
