Developed heuristic model of retirement migration process and explored model using survey data from 586 migrants to western North Carolina. Investigated five distinct groups. Findings suggest that, before people start to seriously consider or plan for retirement move, they have remote or distant visions of retired life in more attractive environment. (Author/NB)
