Peer reviewedRovee, Carolyn Kent; Fagen, Jeffrey W. – Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 1976
This experiment examines extended learning over a 4-day period in infants exposed to responsive and unresponsive wooden mobiles. Frequency of kicks and attention to the mobile increased over the first three days and was found to vary with the introduction of a novel mobile on day four. (GO)

Peer reviewedGholson, Barry; And Others – Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 1972
In the course of two experiments, groups of kindergarten, second, fourth, sixth grade and college students received several discrimination problems to investigate hypothesis testing behavior. (Authors/MB)

Groninger, Lowell D.; And Others – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1972
Purpose of the study was to investigate further the nature of an imagery dimension as it relates to the storage of individual, object-referent words. (Authors)

Peer reviewedEllis, Norman R.; And Others – American Journal of Mental Deficiency, 1982
Discrimination learning, memory, and transfer capacity were assessed in 56 institutionalized moderately to severely retarded adults to provide information on trainability. Generally, the higher functioning Ss, defined by IQ and adaptive behavior learned more rapidly than did the lower functioning Ss. (Author/SW)

Peer reviewedBahrick, Lorraine E.; Gogate, Lakshmi J.; Ruiz, Ivonne – Child Development, 2002
Three experiments investigated discrimination and memory of 5.5-month-olds for videotapes of women performing different activities (blowing bubbles, brushing hair, brushing teeth) or static displays after a 1-minute and a 7-week delay. Findings demonstrate the attentional salience of actions over faces in dynamic events to 5.5-month-olds. Findings…

Guenther, R. Kim; And Others – Journal of Verbal Learning and Verbal Behavior, 1980
Reports three experiments to investigate differences in the semantic classification of pictures and words. The data suggest that visual short-term memory and semantic memory operate in semantic-decision tasks though these sources of information differ in characteristics, potential for activation, and level of abstraction. (PMJ)

Ley, Ronald – 1981
A method for measuring recognition memory (free of distractors) and false recognition was based on the assumption that the subject was "honest." A distractor-free test of word recognition (a single-item test trial in which the 36 targets were presented prior to the 36 distractors) was compared with a traditional target-distractor…

Newtson, Darren; And Others – 1980
Competence in action perception seems to be achieved very early in life. Because research has indicated that competent perceivers of action must be able to discriminate breakpoints in behavior, then recognition memory for breakpoints should be superior to that for nonbreakpoints at all ages where competence in action perception exists. Two studies…
