Tabachnick, Barbara G.; Turbey, Carolyn B. – 1981
Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised (WISC-R) subtest scatter and Bannatyne recategorization scores were investigated with three types of learning disabilities in children 6 to 16 years old: visual-motor and visual-perceptual disability (N=66); auditory-perceptual and receptive language deficit (N=18); and memory deficit (N=12). Three…

Levie, W. Howard – 1981
This bibliography lists 260 articles reporting on research in which the use of pictures as experimental stimuli is central to (not incidental to) the researcher's hypotheses and in which internal imaginal processes are presumed to be activated, no matter what the nature of the experimental stimuli. The articles included are from the 1980 issues of…

Underwood, Benton J.; And Others – 1975
In an earlier study, subjects who were shown the two words "inside" and "consult" at two different points in a study list of two syllable words were willing to accept the word "insult" as having been on the study list. It was concluded that each syllable had a representation in memory over and beyond the semantic factors which are normally…

Myerson, Rosemarie Farkas – 1974
The purpose of this paper is to gain insight into the nature of the reading process through an understanding of the general nature of sensory processing mechanisms which reorganize and restructure input signals for central recognition, and an understanding of how the grammar of the language functions in defining the set of possible sentences in…

Bruning, Roger H.; And Others – 1977
In two experiments, visual and auditory memory were tested for good and for poor readers from the upper elementary grades. Under experimenter-blind conditions, no reading group differences existed for single-mode presentation in recognition frequency or recognition latency. With a multimodal presentation, latencies for poor readers were similar to…

Swanson, Lee – Journal of Educational Psychology, 1978
No difference was found in recall of nonverbal stimuli between normal and learning disabled readers, suggesting that primary reading deficits in learning disabled children are related to verbal encoding deficiencies (visual-verbal integration) and not to deficiencies of visual memory, as suggested by the perceptual deficit hypothesis. (Author/GDC)

Aylwin, Susan – British Journal of Psychology, 1977
A free association technique was used to investigate the semantic structure of three forms of encoding: verbal, visual imagery, and kinesthetic imagery. Discusses the relevance of these findings to creativity and the concept of semantic memory. (Editor/RK)
