Timm, Neil H. – 1977
Several procedures proposed in the literature for the analysis of growth curves are reviewed. Particular attention is given to the current issues in this area to guide practitioners in the selection of the most appropriate methodology. (Author)

Hubert, Lawrence J.; Baker, Frank B. – Psychometrika, 1978
The problem of comparing two sociometric matrices, as originally discussed by Katz and Powell in the early 1950's, is reconsidered and generalized using a different inference model. In particular, the proposed indices of conformity are justified by a regression argument similar to the one used by Somers. ( Author/JKS)

Bekker, Paul A.; de Leeuw, Jan – Psychometrika, 1987
Psychometricians working in factor analysis and econometricians working in regression with measurement error in all variables are both interested in the rank of dispersion matrices under variation of diagonal elements. This paper reviews both fields; points out various small errors; and presents a methodological comparision of factor analysis and…

Ceurvorst, Robert W.; Krus, David J. – Applied Psychological Measurement, 1979
A method for computation of dominance relations and for construction of their corresponding hierarchical structures is presented. The link between dominance and variance allows integration of the mathematical theory of information with least squares statistical procedures without recourse to logarithmic transformations of the data. Werts, C. E.; And Others – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1980
This paper demonstrates how the problem of calibrating measures can be formulated in terms of confirmatory factor analysis. The relationships between traditional approaches and a confirmatory factor approach are specified. (Author/CTM)

Pham, Tuan Dinh; Mocks, Joachim – Psychometrika, 1992
Sufficient conditions are derived for the consistency and asymptotic normality of the least squares estimator of a trilinear decomposition model for multiway data analysis. The limiting covariance matrix is computed. (Author/SLD)

Fay, Temple H.; Lott, P. Aaron – International Journal of Mathematical Education in Science and Technology, 2002
This paper discusses a result of Li and Shen which proves the existence of a unique periodic solution for the differential equation x[dots above] + kx[dot above] + g(x,t) = [epsilon](t) where k is a constant; g is continuous, continuously differentiable with respect to x , and is periodic of period P in the variable t; [epsilon](t) is continuous…

Carlson, James E.; Timm, Neil H. – 1980
This paper presents two extensions of the full-rank multivariate linear model that are particularly useful in multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) and repeated measurements designs. After a review of the basic full-rank model, an extension is described which allows restrictions of a more general nature. This model is useful in the…

Rudnitsky, Alan N. – 1977
Three approaches to the graphic representation of similarity and dissimilarity matrices are compared and contrasted. Specifically, Kruskal's multidimensional scaling, Johnson's hierarchical clustering, and Waern's graphing techniques are employed to depict, in two dimensions, data representing the structure of a set of botanical concepts. Each of…

Hakstian, Ralph A.; Skakun, Ernest N. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1976
Populations of factorially simple and complex data were generated with first the oblique and orthogonal factor models, and then solutions based on special cases of the general orthomax criterion were compared on the basis of these characteristics. The results are discussed and implications noted. (DEP)

Sirotnik, Kenneth; Wellington, Roger – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1977
A single conceptual and theoretical framework for sampling any configuration of data from one or more population matrices is presented, integrating past designs and discussing implications for more general designs. The theory is based upon a generalization of the generalized symmetric mean approach for single matrix samples. (Author/CTM)

Chavda, L. K. – American Journal of Physics, 1978
A complete matrix formulation of the theory of small oscillations is presented. Simple analytic solutions involving matrix functions are found which clearly exhibit the transients, the damping factors, the Breit-Wigner form for resonances, etc. (BB)

Robin, Anthony C. – Mathematics Teaching, 1976
Finding the shortest route between two points can be approached by vector methods. Several types of matrices modelling a map of 6 cities are described. (SD)

Rennie, Robert R.; Villegas, C. – Journal of Multivariate Analysis, 1976
An asymptotic theory is developed for a new time series model introduced in TM 502 289. An algorithm for computing estimates of the parameters of this time series model is given, and it is shown that these estimators are asymptotically efficient in that they have the same asymptotic distribution as the maximum likelihood estimators. Spiegel, Douglas K. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1986
Tau, Lambda, and Kappa are measures developed for the analysis of discrete multivariate data of the type represented by stimulus response confusion matrices. The accuracy with which they may be estimated from small sample confusion matrices is investigated by Monte Carlo methods. (Author/LMO)
