Peer reviewedPeay, Edmund R. – Psychometrika, 1975
Peay presented a class of grouping methods based on the concept of the r-clique for symmetric data relationships. The concepts of the r-clique can be generalized readily to directed (or asymmetric) relationships, and groupings based on this generalization may be found conveniently using an adoption of Peay's methodology. Peer reviewedJefferson, T. R.; And Others – Psychometrika, 1989
The problem of scaling ordinal categorical data observed over two or more sets of categories measuring a single characteristic is addressed. Scaling is obtained by solving a constrained entropy model. A Kullback-Leibler statistic is generated that operationalizes a measure for the strength of consistency among the sets of categories. Peer reviewedZielman, Berrie; Heiser, Willem J. – Psychometrika, 1993
An algorithm based on the majorization theory of J. de Leeuw and W. J. Heiser is presented for fitting the slide-vector model. It views the model as a constrained version of the unfolding model. A three-way variant is proposed, and two examples from market structure analysis are presented. (SLD)

Two sets of real sorting data from 50 college students are used to compare results of multidimensional scaling of raw co-occurrence frequencies or dissimilarity measures (D) and profile distances (delta) to determine which yields a better representation of the underlying structure of 2 sets of stimuli. Slight differences are discussed. (SLD)
