"Chisanbop" is a Korean word which means finger calculation method. It is based on the Korean abacus, and its emphasis is on fives. By using Chisanbop techniques, one can add, subtract, multiply, and divide large numbers. Chisanbop can be taught most effectively to large groups in the second grade. (JN)

The bound electron self-energy or Lamb shift is calculated in nonrelativistic quantum electrodynamics. Retardation is retained and also an interaction previously dropped in other nonrelativistic approaches is kept. The general problem of mass accretion by a drop falling through a cloud of droplets is considered as an exercise in introductory or intermediate mechanics. An exploratory investigation of various incorrect solution procedures used by students attempting to solve a variety of forms of open sentences is reported. The study identifies specific incorrect strategies, indicates their relative frequency of occurrence, and attempts to offer some explanation for certain of the incorrect procedures used. (MK)
