Peer reviewedRyckman, David B.; Nolen, Patricia A. – Journal of Learning Disabilities, 1985
G. Senf's study of bisensory integration language tasks was modified and replicated with 52 normal and 52 learning disabled children. Results confirmed the original study except for a more consistent pattern for individual difference variables and failure to replicate the main effect of stimulus interpair presentation times. (Author/CL)

Peer reviewedBreen, Michael J.; And Others – Journal of Learning Disabilities, 1985
Findings revealed significant correlations between all three measures of visual motor development as well as those measures and the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised Performance IQ. The VMI-Revised appeared appropriate for measuring paper/pencil fine motor aspects of visual perceptual development in children. (CL)

Peer reviewedZendel, I. H.; Pihl, R. O. – Journal of Learning Disabilities, 1983
It was found that although learning disabled elementary children did more poorly than normal children at tasks involving intersensory and intrasensory matches, the psychological processes related to performance were, with one exception, similar between groups. (Author/CL)

Peer reviewedGetman, G. N. – Journal of Learning Disabilities, 1981
The author reviews aspects of visual integration which should be assessed in students with suspected learning problems: visually directed and monitored movements, visual tactual integrations, visual auditory language integrations, and visual systems integrations. (CL)

Peer reviewedBaker, Georgia P.; Raskin, Larry M. – Journal of Learning Disabilities, 1973
Letter learning and recognition by 72 young (kindergarten or grades 1 or 2) learning disabled children were studied using visual, tactual, and visual plus tactual training and testing with 5- and 15-second exploration times. (Author)
Descriptors: Exceptional Child Research, Kindergarten, Learning Disabilities, Primary Education
Eleven types of learning disabilities are listed along with observable classroom behavior and group and individual teaching techniques for each type of disability. Among disability types considered are visual-motor channel disability, auditory decoding process disability, auditory vocal automatic disability, and visual motor sequencing. (CL)

Peer reviewedLarsen, Stephen C.; Hammill, Donald D. – Journal of Special Education, 1975
Reviewed are findings from 60 research studies investigating the relationship of visual discrimination, spatial relations, memory, and auditory-visual integration to school learning. (Author/CL)
