In New Zealand caution and economy prevent wild proliferation of language laboratories. Cooperation between laboratories is effective and the equipment is varied and sophisticated. Labs are used intensively and ingeniously to save money. Lab courses in teacher training programs and opening of facilities to the public are some innovations. (CHK)
