This study of the role and use of English in Israel was conducted in 1973. Sources used were census figures, personal interviews, surveys, and personal observations. An experiment was conducted to test the hypothesis that students who can verbalize the rules governing such structures as the "ser/estar" dichotomy will be superior in the correct use of the structures.
